    Second ruler of the growing Ottoman kingdom. Followed his father's footsteps in taking advantage of his kingdoms location. He started the conquest of the Byzantine territories.

    Set up the Janissaries system, making ex-slaves into professional soldiers. Started the conquest of Europe.

    He was the first Ottoman to lay siege to the Constantinople, the structures build in this siege played a crucial part in the second siege. Was defeated by Timur's armies in Battle of Ankara and became a captive. With is capture Ottoman Empire got separated between his sons.

    Won the Ottoman Interregnum and became the Ruler. He was also known as the second founder of the Ottoman Empire. He turned a civil war torn kingdom in to unified force that will exist for hundreds of years.

    His first reign before returning throne to his father Murad. He was only 12 when he took over as the ruler. During his first rule he asked his father the lead the Ottoman armies against the Crusaders in the battle of Varna where ottomans where victorious.

    Murad II returned to the throne due to internal foes his son Mehmed II faced as a young ruler. He was able to bring order back to the ruling class. During his rule Janissaries started gaining power.

    Returned to throne with his father's death. One of the most successful Ottoman emperors, he was a great military leader who gained territories on all fronts. His greatest achievement meant the end of once powerful Byzantine Empire
    -Constantinople is conquered by the Ottomans in 1453 ending the Byzantine Empire.

    Continued the conquest of Balkans against the Venetian kingdom. He turned Ottoman Empire in to more of a follower of Islam. Opened the doors of Ottoman Empire to the displaced Jews and Muslims who were fleeing from the Spanish Inquisition.

    Turned the focus of Ottoman conquest to the Middle East. Led successful campaigns against Persia and Syria. By the end of his rule he had double the size of the empire.

    Known as the most successful ottoman emperor. Initially he turned the kingdoms focus back to Europe and Christians instead of continuing the push in Middle East like his father. He also revolutionized legislatives in the Ottoman Empire earning the nickname “Law Maker”
    -Rhodes and Belgrade fell to the ottomans 1521

    He failed to live up to the high standards left by his father. He was not a military man unlike most other Sultans. He let his advisors take charge and never commanded the armies of the Ottoman Empire.
