Lifespan Developmental Timeline

  • Prenatal Development: The Germinal Period

    The first 14 days after conception the one cell zygote divides and becomes a blastocyst.
  • Prenatal Development: The Embryonic Period

    The 3rd to 8th week after conception, the blastocyst is now called an embryo ( the developing human).
  • Prenatal Development: The Fetal Period

    The ninth week after conception to birth, the embryo is now called a fetus and dramatic growth changes occur.
  • Birth

    It's a healthy baby girl! I was born to LaTanya Campbell at 5:40 p.m., I weighed 8 pounds and 7 ounces.
  • First Two Years: Biosocial

    I am a chubby toddler weighing 30 pounds and I am just about 2 feet tall. I learn to walk at 9 months old. By the age of 2 unable to walk unassisted.

    I am bottle fed and my sucking reflex is good. By the age of 2, I am able to say many different words, according to my mother eat was my favorite.

    I sleep in a toddler bed next to my mom and dads bed. I don't like the dark, my mom buys me a glow worm to light up the darkness, it gives me much comfort. I spend a lot of time with my dad, when he goes to work I cry a lot.

    I'm taller and no longer a chubby toddler, I've become a thin girl. I can climb my bunk bed with ease and I love to run.

    When I was 3 I swallowed a penny because I wanted to know what it taste like. In preschool I learned lots of rhymes and songs like three blind mice and where is thumpkin.

    At 4 years old my mom and I leave Mississippi to move to Detroit, I did not want to leave my dad. We lived with my aunt and uncle, and my cousin became like a sister to me. When I was 6 my mom moved into her own place and I cried because I had to leave my cousin; I felt lonely at our new home.

    I am thinner than the average child my age. I have long slim fingers, which make playing the flute an easy task.

    My third grade teacher tells me I have very good comprehension skills. In the fourth grade I join academic games; a math program for children who excel at math.

    My best friends are my friends from preschool and I love hanging out with them. I'm not interested in boys just yet. At 11 years old I joined the marching band, I like socializing with everyone and going on our various field trips.
  • Adolescence: Biosocial

    My menstrual cycle begins at the age of 13. I have become every interested in the opposite sex, I kiss a boy for the first time. I am still a thin girl, but my breast are larger than most girls my age. I worry about gaining weight and try not to over eat.

    To avoid being bullied, I have become an introvert. I don't have many friends outside of church and often times feel lonely. I didn't have a boyfriend until I was seventeen. I did not like taking my mother's advice and wanted very much to not be anything like her. I drank a couple of times, but never smoked or did illegal drugs.

    At 14 my grades fall due to me focusing more on boys than my grades.

    At 15 I begin to focus on my studies and staying out of trouble with girls (bullies) and boys. My grades have greatly improved and I maintain staying on the honor roll until I graduate from high school at the age of 17.

    At 18 I decide to take a break from school and get a full time job, I feel it will give me time to really know what I want to do with my life.

    At 18 I attend Wayne State Univesity. I chose Engineering as my major; as my mother insturcted. I'm taking five classes and I'm feeling mentally and emotinally overwhelmed. I begin to think college is not for me.

    I am feel health and strong. I'm 19 and I've become pregnant with my first child. I'm eating well and taking vitamins.

    I am almost 19 and pregnant, I'm worried and consider giving the baby up for adoption. I love the idea of having a family and being a stay-at-home mom, but I also feel I'm too young for these thoughts.

    At the age of 23 I begin to lift weights in hopes of gaining more muscle mass, my body acculmates to it very well.

    I have my second child at the age of 26. I have put on a consideral amount of muscle after 3 years of weight-lifting.

    I am 26 and I love the idea of staying at home and raising children, I want to have seven children.I like being physically fit, it is the one thing I feel I can control. I'm 65 years old and retired fromthe nusing field; I have had 4 children who have given me many wonderful grandchildren; I find comfort in family.

    At the age of 33 I attend Schoolcraft College in hopes of obtaining my Nursing degree. I have reasoned that the medical field is both finacially lucrative and provides job security. I maintain a 3.6 G.P.A., allowing me to stay in the honor's society; I graduate in 2017.

    I'm 50 years old still lifting weights and eating healthy, all in the hopes of avoiding the health issues my mother faces due to poor exercise and diet habits. I am also going through menopause.

    At the age of 50, my husband is my best friend; we have made it through many ups and downs.
  • Adulthood: Cognitive

    I've been a nurse for 14 years; my vocabulary skills have greatly changed and imporved; I am a good communicator.

    I love to work in my garden, making meals from the fresh produce I grow. I am still lifting weights (LInda Wood-Hoyte is my roll model) to fight the effects of aging on the body. I also eat a healty diet that helps me to avoid high blood pressure, which is common in my family.

    I socialize often with my friends. I teach children's church at the church I attend weekly. My husband and I like talking to and counseling our children and grandchildren. I still love to dance. I also love going on family trips.

    I wear glasses consistently now, my vision is not what it was. I have gained wisdom thourgh many life experiences. I have a pretty good memory, mostly because I don't like being wrong. Cardio has helped me to avoid stress and depression due to the release endorphins, it has also helped me to keep my brain in a healthy state.
  • Late Adulthood: Dying

    I have lived a full and joyful life. I die at the age of 92 years olds. I pass away in my sleep at home with my husband. According to my faith I will rest until I'm ressurected upon the return of Jesus Christ; I will then live eternally in his heavenly kingdom.
  • Adulthood: Death

    I will be cremated, my family will scatter my ashes, and hopefully remember only the good times they had with me.
