Life Span

  • Birth

    Jonathan Schrag was born
  • Period: to

    First two years: Cognitive Development

Through this period, my sensorimotor intelligence developed. It allowed me to learn through my senses and motor skills.
During the first month my senses and reflexes became active, allowing for cognition. I then acquired my first adaptions. Between the 4th and 8th month I began responding to people and things. By one year I was able to anticipate responses to actions. After my first year of life I began to expirement, and then think before I took certain actions.
  • Period: to

    First two years: Psychosocial Development

After about six weeks I was finally able to do something other than cry, which was smile. At 3 months I was able to express my joy and new discoveries by laughing. After four months I began demonstrating frustration through anger, espiecially when I was restrained. After nine months I became anxious and or scared if one of my parents were not present. Loud noises bothered me as well. After 18 months I realized I was a different person than everyone else and gained a sense of self.
  • Biosocial

Rapid growth occurs. Weight quadruples, height doubles.
  • Period: to

    Play years: Cognitive Development

During this time period my english vocabulary rapidly expanded. By age 3 I could properly order sentences and use tenses. I began writing at this age as well according to my mom.
  • Period: to

    Play Years: Biosocial development

During this period I began developing fine motor skills. I acually began writing after I turned 3 years old. I enjoyed activities which required motor skills such as drawing, painting, building with legos, and playing instruments. During this time period I began developing an interest in music. For my 3rd birthday I had a "music" party at my Grandparent's house.
  • Play Years: Psychosocial Development

By age 5 I was clearly following a male gender schema. Me and my other playmates would play with toy weapons pretending to be cops, robbers, power rangers, and superheros. I remember power rangers in kindergarden being the most popular recess game.
  • Period: to

    Middle Childhood: Psychosocial Development

Becoming accepted by peers and being included is an extremely important thing during this time period. I believe this is one reason I was embarrased bringing my healthy lunch to school. At this age you want to be like everyone else.
  • Period: to

    Middle Childhood: Cognitive Development

During my elementary school years I was always an honor roll student. In school I remember making silly songs to remember certain things. According to our book, this is a normal memorization strategy for this age. I wish during this age I began learning a different language. I beleive not having early exposure to another language is what made foreing language classes difficult for me later on.
  • Period: to

    Biosocial Development: Middle Childhood

During childhood I remember my mom always obessing about eating healthy foods. At the time I would be resistant to it and embarrased at school because my lunch looked different than other childrens. I now can thank her after realizing how vital good health can be during this time. Physical activity was always something I enjoyed during this age. For a long time I was into gymnastics and soccer.
  • Adolescence: Biosocial Development

I went through puberty at a later time than average. When I was 14 just before my freshman year of high school I began noticing changes. I remember almost all of my friends being much larger and older looking, some begining to change in 6th and 7th grade.
  • Period: to

    Cognitive: Adolescence

In high school I struggled with mathmatics and somewhat in sciences.
  • Period: to

    Psychosocial: Adolescence

During these years I am glad I had supportive parents and a smaller but good group of friends. I honestly never expirienced much peer pressure issues or had abnormal levels sadness or depression. I believe a close group of peers with positive values made this possible.
  • Emerging Adulthood: Biosocial

I am now at this point in life. My body is definately stronger and more useful than it was in earlier years.
  • Psychosocial: Emerging Adulthood

I feel like I know who I am and want to become. Unlike in high school, I know where I want to go. I am only 19 though so I feel like things can definately change.
  • Cognitive: Emerging Adulthood

I feel that I think through decisions much more than in earlier years. I have a better balance between emotions and logic. I see noticeable improvment in my communication skills. In high school I felt like I did not know how to approach my boss or teachers. I now feel more comfortable doing so.
  • Cognitive: Adulthood

My fluid intelligence will decline but my crystallized intelligence will improve. This basically means I will probably forget most math formulas but I will be extremely knowlegable with what I use in my career.
  • Biosocial: Adulthood

I will expirience signs of aging, although with a healthy lifestyle I hope I will significantly reduce these changes.
  • Psychosocial: Adulthood

I hope to have a wife for intimacy and children to take care of. As an adult I'm sure I would experience joy taking care of a family (generativity).
  • Late Adulthood: Cognitive

I know at this point in life I will experience a decline in fluid intelligence and cognitive speed. My senses will begin to decline as well. I will admit I'm slightly worried about Alzheimer's disease because my Grandmother had it. Hopefully staying active and healthy will help prevent anything serious. I do know for a fact that I will be enjoying music at this age and still be playing guitar in most of my free time.
  • Late Adulthood: Biosocial

At this stage I predict I will still be very active enjoying a healthy life style. Late in life I want to be able to run, swim, bike, and enjoy the outdoors. Although primary aging will occur, secondary aging will not be too evident, at least if I continue living healthy. I don't know if I will become a centenarian but it sure seems possible.
  • Late Adulthood: Psychosocial

I'm not sure how long into this stage I will continue working. It just depends on the job and if I love it. If I'm not working I am sure i'll be volunteering or actively involved in groups of some sort. I really hope to have a wife of many years at this stage and a close family to be with.
  • Death and Dying

My life expectancy calculator prediction was the age 92. At my time of death I hope (like all others) that it is peaceful, comfortable, quick, and preferably at home with family near by. I hope I am at peace spiritually and with all of my loved ones.
