    In the 1400's the race for exploration began and coutires tried to claim and colonize land for wealth and power. In 1497 the British claimed Newfoundland and it sparked the reveloution of globalization in Canada and changed life for existing and future generations at the time.

    Jacques Cartier arrives in St. Lawrence
    Many years after the British, French exploreres landed in St. Lawrnece and claimed it in the name of France. This sparked competition between Britian and France and essentially kick started globalization.

    After arriving in Canada both Britian and France discovered its rich resources and used and traded them for goods, clothing, etc. In 1627, France granted royal charter to The Company of New France, a company that trapped animals for fur and pelts and was very popular. This changed the way of lfe for current and future generations. A huge legacy of historical globalization.

    The competing company to The Company of New France was the Hudsons Bay Company, a British company. It was very similar to France's resulting in coflict and tension. The British government granted Hudsons Bay with royal charter in 1670 and a monpoly over the Hudsons bay and it's resources. This was one of the earliest signs of globalization. And was a huge legacy of historical globalizations, changing the lives of many generations.

    The British, thinking it was thier duty, tried to make the First Nation's lose thier tradtions and culture and make them adapt the British lifestyle.The concept was known as assimilation. Inroder to get the First Nations to cooperate they began negotiating rather unfair treaties. The biggest downfall of the treaties were the language diffenreces that put the First Nations at a disadvantage.

    The Seven Years war began mid 1700's between the French and British, however it affected large powers all over the world. It was a very negative effect of globalization. But helped greatly to shape Canada's identity and history.

    The North West Company, created be the French, was situated in Montreal and was made mainly to rival the succsess of the Hudson's Bay Company in Western Canada. There was lots of competetion and wealth at stake which often caused conflict and combat. Pushing the two companies to evetually merge.
    This which sped up the total process of globalization and created some what of an alliance between France and Britian.

    In the 1800 the Metis, a mixed race of French and First Nations began trading independently, despite monoplolies and laws. This shows how globazation was beginging to happen. And the world was becoming alot more connected. Also the Metis mixed heritage was very valuble to Canada's individual culture.

    As said before the conflict between the two companies and more specifially the French and British caused the merging of the two extremely successful compamies. Since there was lots on the line the two super powers felt this was the only way to solve the conflict. This merging was huge step in globalization. Also left a large legacy.

    The Beothuk were a small group of people living on the island of Newfoundland during European contact in the 15 and 16 century. During time of colonization the Beothuk people suffered territorial pressure which pushed them to extenstion. In 1829 the death of Shanawdithit marked the complete extinction of the people. It was one the saddest and most negative effects of globalization. And was very unfair.

    Up until 1849 the Hudson's Bay company can a monopoly over Ruperts Land and it's resources that accompanied. This was a was a huge historical legacy. It also changed the way of life and encouraged globalization.

    The Metis, lead by Louis Reil, uprose against Canada and it's unjust treatment toeards the Metis peoples. The Metis people believed Canada had failed to recongize their rights and protection and survival and distict people. This was a very big event in Canadian history. And was also a negative effect of globalization.

    1885 embraked the unsuccessful uproar against the goverment by the Metis in Western Canada. The resistance was lead by Louis Riel, and resulted in his hanging. this event was very big and tragic in Canada's history and was a very negative effect of globalization.

    After Canada had been colonized and became a English/French speaking nation, People from all over the world begun immigrating and filling this land and giving it a unique culture. This was a very huge impact of globalization. It also changed the way of life for many generations present and future at the time.
