    Historical significance: Immigrants could enter Canada and live in Canada with no fear of danger or anything that happened in the country they used to live in.
  • World War 2

    Pull factor: Since Canada wasnt part of the war people who lived near Germany could immigrate to Canada and escape the war.
    Historical Significance: This is important because it saved the lives of Jews and other people who could have been killed in the war.
  • Canadian Citizenship Act

    Pull Factor: anyone could now get a Canadian Citizenship.
    Historical significance: the government was hoping this would mean people from all over the world would come and make canada a more diverse country.
  • United states

    Push factor: During the vietnam war 11 000 people who were eligable to be drafted to the military moved to canada. Historical significance: this is important because Canada was there for people who didnt want to go to war.
  • Hungary

    Push factor: in 1956 there was a uprising and over 200 000 Hungarians looking for refuge.
    Historical significance: This is important because 40 000 Hungarians entered Canada and Canadian citizens protested on parlement hill making sure they got imediate safety. That is important because immigrants can now enter Canada and have sefety.
  • China

    Pull factor: immigration increased in 1967 because people from China no longer needed to be married to a canadian to move to Canada.
    Historical significance: this was important because people from China could now move to Canada without having to get married.
  • British Isles

    Pull factor: In the 1980s lots of people from the British Isles came to Canada because of lack of land in the British Isles.
    Historical significance: This was important because Canada was able to provide the land that wasn't available in the British Isles.
