Hello my name is Joseph Finnland. I have decided to immigrate to America because I have been wrongly accused of committing a crime and might be sent to jail or worse killed. -
Arrival and discrimination
I arrived in America, narrowly escaping through the legal inspection by lying about my wrong conviction in Ireland. Hopefully that is all behind me now. I am having trouble finding a job because of the discrimination against the Irish. -
Boxing Scene and Poverty
I started boxing to help supplement my income but now have to pay and depend on "boss" for my livlihood. I lost a big fight last night and now have been kicked out of my housing and have no food. I am worried that I may not survive through the winter. -
Railroad
I barely made it through the winter. Living off garabage and staying in abandoned houses... I now joined a railroad company and am earning money to hopefully get land in the west. -
Work
I finally found a job in a meat packing company but am now very poor because of how long it took to find a job and how they treat us. If you yawn they deduct your pay for not working hard enough. Ridiculous! I must find something more solvent!
