I have not found a decent job, for although I could have worked in a factory I had heard the reputation of such work. I have just enough money left to catch a train west, where I will start looking once more.

After arriving in St. Louis, I was nearly broke. Thankfully, I found a job with the rail company. I hope to save enough money to someday buy my own land in Nebraska.

After saving up money for a few years, I finally have enough to be able to buy myself a horse, tools, and supplies needed to become a farmer. I will farm mostly wheat and corn, as will most immigrants here.
