    Wilfred Laurier
    The turn of the century was called the " Golden Age of Laurier." Laurier was Canadas Prime Minister at the Turn of the Century. Wilfred Laurier and the Liberal party swept to power in 1896 and stayed in control for 15 years. During the 1900`s Prime Minister Laurier was faced with a number of problems. Some of his problems were deciding issues between the French and English Canadians bacuse they always disagreed with each other. Another problem was with Canda and the US with boarder problems.
  • Murder at Sarajevo

    Murder at Sarajevo
    The cause of WWI was when the Archduke Frannz Ferdinand and the Archduchess Sophia were murdered on Sunday June 28, 1914. The murderer of these people were Gavrilo Princip. The murder took place at Sarajevo, Austria-Hungary. Princip threw a bomb and texploded against the hood of the car. He took two shots from his gun and the first shot hit the Archduke right in the throat and the second shot hit the Archduchess in the stomach.

    The battle of Ypres lasted from 22 April to 25 May 1915. The battle of Ypres to use weapons. The type of weapons used were gas attack. Some counrties that suffered during the use of gas attack was Franch and Algerians that were exploded. During this battle there was over 6,00 Canadian casualties that were suffered. The country that stopped the German advance was the first Canadian Divisin And the British troops. Canadians courage and ability in the face of this new weapons won them recognition.

    Vimy Ridge was a big win for Canadian soldier. There was over 10,602 Canadians that luached their attack and to capture the ridge. There was about 3,598 Canadians that have lost their lifes. the commanded for the Canadian forces was Lt Gen Sir J.HY.G. Byng. The Canadian soldiers sweep over the Germans off the ridge. Vimy Ridge was important for Canada as a nation because it gave the Canadians a great feeling of self-confindence.

    The battle of Passchendaele took place in the fall of 1917. There was about 700 Canadians that died and 1,500 more that were injured or wounded. It was a bitter disaster for Canadian soldiers. The battle of Passchendaele was pretty much took place in mud, there was mud everwhere! First Germans lost 7 km of mud but they won it back again. During this was, a British soldier loud out " Good God ! Did we really send men to figt that? "

The entire working popalation of Winnipeg walked off the job. the winnipeg General Strike lasted for six whole weeks.

By 1916 the of the provinces expect Quebec banned drinking and Quebec was the only provice that was still drinking after world war one. Also after world war one the government became less and less popular, and the governments responded by lifting the restrictions.

The three provinces that were affected by this were Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba. Prairie farmers amoung the Canadians were hit the hardest during the Great Depression.Many farmers on the west used methods that produced wheat quickly robbed the soil of nutrients needed to grow crop the following year.

The first bomb that the US dropped on Hiroshima was code name " little boy " and the second bomb that was dropped on Nagasaki was code name " Fat Man " The first bomb killed 80,00 people died immediately and 80,000 to 100,00 died after and the second bomb killed 40,000 people and then 60,oo died right after. The long term affect of the bombs were cancer.

    Pearl Habour is place in Hawaii. On December 7, 1941 a first strom of Japanese planes fly low into Pearl Habour and bombed the whole place up. Just before the attack happened an observing station at Pearl saw planes fling low but they were thinking it was the Americans practising manoeuvres and so no alarm was issued. The Japanese attack was lead by Admiral Yamamoto. They had not declared war yet on the USA.

    On 6 June 1944 the Allies landed on the beachs of Normandy. The Canadians landed and thier part on the beach, code name Juno, the Americans landing on Omaha and Utah and the British landing on Sword and Gold. Near the end of D-Day the Canadians had travelled almost 9km inland. In August the Canadian and British troops held most of the German formations and the American Army broke the German line in St-Lo. The Canadian forces suffered 18,444 casualties during the battle of Normandy.

People who were going to start families had to wait because of the hard times. A population increase this big meant that more teachers, schools, and doctors were needed for this many people. In the 1970`s this meant that they needed to make more high schools and better jobs that teens created.

    Pierre Trudeau was Prime Minister of Canada and was elected in 1968. Prime Minister Trudeau was Canadas Prime Minister for 15 years and lasting from April 20, 1968 to June 4, 1979. Trudeau began his political career campaigning for socialist ideas but he eventually joined the Liberal Party of Canada when he entered federal politics in the 1960s. From his base in Montreal, Trudeau took control of the Liberal Party.

The second game was played in Toronto and the result was Canada winning 4 -1. Game 3 was in Winnepeg were it tied 4-4. In games 4 and 5 Canada losted both games. In games 6 and 7 team Canada played amazing winning both. Game 8, Tied 5-5 in the 3rd period with 34 seconds left, Hederson score the game winner.

The annual Terry Fox Run first held in 1981 has grown to involve millions of participants in over 60 countries and is now the worlds largest one day fundraiser for cancer research over $500 million has been raised. In 1980 he began the Marathon of Hope a cross country run to raise money for cancer research.

The invasion of Kuwait started on August 2,1990. Which meant international condemnation, and brought immediate economic sanctions against Iraq by members of the UN security council.
