  • Estates General Called

    At the estates general meeting the 1st and 2nd estate would ignore the 3rd estate. So the third estates decided to seperate and make the tennis court oath.This lead to the revolution.
  • Storm the Bastille

    The third estate had to prove that they meant buissness by taking the bastille which was a symbol of the old government. When the troops came it showed that the king was not in favor and brought the people together.
  • Constitution

    It reduced the kings power and declared France republic. It abolished the esates system. All three estates came together on this.
  • France invades Belgium and S. Germany

    France Invades Belgium and Germany, war didn't go so well. Eventually led to food shortages and peasants revolted agaibst revolution, because of the attack of the curch.
  • War declared on Austria and Prussia

    Army wasn't winning the war because France was focused the revolution. Angry radicals forced assembly to arrest kings family, and disband and suspend the constitution.
  • Convention declares France a republic

    The convention declares France a republic and this made the people feel more dominant over the royals. This is a big step for the people of France because they were so used to a dictator or monarchy. King Louis XVI relunctantly signed the New Constitution on his powers were reduced even more.
  • King Louis XVI is beheaded

    This event leads to the "Reign of Terror". It got rid of noble rule forever, and it was a moral victory for the people.
  • Reign of Terror begins

    It caused people to always follow the rules in fear of being executed. People made sure they said the right thing at all times. Also it made people more suspicious of eachother. Anyone who was suspected of stepping out of line was executed. There were speedy trials which usually ended in execution. The Reign of Terror went against the rights of Declaration of Man and Citizen
  • Robespierre is executed

    Becoming too violent and bloodthirsty, Robespierre is sentenced to death by other Convention leaders, fearing for their own safety. The public opinion changed dramatically after his head rolled. They were tired of endless excecutions and the insanely high price of bread, salt, and others. The radical phase of the French Revolution ended with Maximillian Robespierre.
  • Directory is established

    Was the fist symbol that France was a new country. A new constitution was written, and there were five directors e;ected ny a two house legeslator. It was run by the upper middle class and only property owners could vote. The constitution was often bent to remove extremists. The poorest 1/3 of the population wasn't allowed to vote. It was only a temperary fix, becuse the Directory later became cocurrupt and inneficient.
