    Beginning of the Revolution
    Common people of France are starving. Their country is in debt because of the lavish spending and poor choices of Louis XVI and other royals. Seeing the clergy and nobility living lavishly sparks anger. This is important because the anger snowballed into bigger events.

    Convaction of Estates General
    Meeting of the clergy, nobility, and common people. At this point the commoners were very upset because they were starving, poor, worked to support the rich, and had to pay taxes that the rich didn't. They also had to send less representatives despite being 98% of the population. This is important because it led to the National Assembly of France.

    National Assembly of France
    After being voted the third estate, the common people created the National Assembly of France. This means they represented the people of France in the national parliament. They were not even allowed to meet because of Louis XVI locking the door. This is important because it led to the Constitution of France.

    Revolutionaries try to raid the arms cash in the Bastille. These weapons would help them to defend themselves from troops. The revolutionaires and troops proceed to kill each other. This is important because it is looked at as the biggest landmark event in the revolution.

    This declaration was passed by the National Constituent Assembly. It focused on the natural rights of humans. It took influence from the Declaration of Independence.

    Women's March
    Crowd of armed women march to Versailles. They were angry about the lack and high price of bread. They marched to Versailles to demand that Louis XVI and his family return to Paris. This is important because it showed that the King did not endure the suffering of a common person. This event showed the people were starting to become more powerful.

    King Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette dress as servants and try to escape to turmoil in Paris. A smypathic general offered to hide them in the rural land of France. They made their servants dress as nobility to make them a target. This is important because the people were able to bring them back to Paris.

    Champ de Mars Massacre
    A decree was issued on Louis XVI that he would remain king. Leader of the Jacobins tried to fight that decision. About 50 people died after troops fired into the crowd. This is important because it shows the king and national guard was getting desperate.

    Declaration of Pillnitz
    This declaration stated that the Roman Empire and Prussia would be supporting Louis XVI in the revolution. The leader of the Holy Roman Empire at the time was Leopold II, Marie Antoinette's brother. The National Assembly interpreted the document differently than it was intended. This is important because the National Assembly thought this document declared war.
  • Reign of Terror

    Reign of Terror
    The Reign of Terror is a name given to the period of time where many were killed by the two sides; Jacobins and Girondins. The Reign of Terror resulted in the executions of Marie Antoinette, Louis XVI, the Girondins, and numerous others. It is estimated that tens of thousands died at this time.
