    The seven years war initiated the slow inevitable bankrupcy of France. The war left France in debt from repeated losses in wars. The loss of the Seven Years War would be a significant event in the start of the revolution.

    Louis the 16th becoming king
    Louis the 16th was a very infamous and unfit king. He became king at the age of 15. Married to Marie Antoinette to create an allegiance between long time rival nations France and Austria. They did not have kids till several years later, during this time the parisians had a negative view towards the couple. These two would be the last monarchs of France.

    King Louis Economy Plan Fails

    During this time King Louis has multiple economic plans to boost France's economy, however these plans all fail and this increasing debt would be the main cause of the revolution.

    Robespierre Starts his Career
    Robespierre is an aspiring lawyer. He was a voice for the third estate (serfs and labouring class). He would later create the national assembly with other deputies in 1789
  • Civilians Storm the Bastille

    Civilians Storm the Bastille
    King Louis' economic failure left civilians starving and upset. The king ordered soldiers to put down rioters they would start a revolt and storm the local bastille for arms and ammunition to fight back. Many guards and the head of the bastille were slaughtered. All the killed guards would have their heads set upon the tip of a spear and paraded around the bastille's court yard. This event was the first act of the revolution. The Tri-Color was born (current French flag).

    Jean-Paul Marat publishes his Free Press
    L'Ami du peuple was his form of influence on the revolution and it was uncensored so most of his writings were radical and extreme. This paper and this man were both an important keys to the revolution. His death years later would be a pivotal point in the French revolution.

    Women's March on Versailles
    One of the most early and significant events in the French Revolution it was an act of wanting political reform and an act of revolt. The scarcity of bread led marketplace women to march to Versaille Palace and riot. Guards were slaughtered as the women broke into the royal palace, to find Marie Antoinette.

    Louis the 16th Attempts to Flee
    Being put in the royal chateu in Paris by the citizens, Louis and his family attempt the flee to the Austrian border. He was unsuccessful and this attempt to leave his people would make the hate of the king greater. This act against his people would make him and his family prison- royalty.

    After over throwing the King and with the Nation Assembly in charge, France would declare war against Ausrtia. During this war France would lose the early battles until the later period of the war when they would be led by a young general named Napoleon Bonaparte. France would initially declare war agaisnt Austria but would also be fighting Britain and Prussia as well.

    Robespierre Oders King Louis' Execution
    King Louis the 16th was charged with treason agains the National convention and is executed by the guillotine. His death would signal the end of the feudal system in France but would also start the Reign of Terror. Robespierre's government would then govern France.

    This was the party Robespierre created with other National convention members. This group would be responsible for the executon of many internal rebels and anyone who opposed the state. They would be responsible for the executions of the Hébertists and Dantonists (followers of Georges Danton).

    Marat is Killed by Charlotte Corday
    Revolutionary leader and key figure Jean-Paul Marat was assassinated by Charlotte Corday, who killed she blamed for the september massacre.

    Reign of Terror

    This period of time was a violent period in the French Revolution where 16000 people were executed in Paris by the guillotine and many others all over France. It was Robespierre and party killing potential enemies of the state and traitors.
  • Marie Antoinette's Execution

    Marie Antoinette's Execution
    Mary Antoinette would be executed by the guillotine october 15 with the charges of sexual abuse of her son, sending capital money to Austria, and plotting to kill the Duke of Orléans. She was ellegedly committing incest with her son, which could have been a made up charge to help against her charges.

    Danton's Death
    Danton was considered an ally to Robespierre, the man who would eventually order his execution. Danton opposed Robespierre's idea to spill more "traitors" blood. Danton proposed to create a more stable government now that the king was dead.

    With France destroying its catholic ties at this time, Robespierre attempted to create a new religion which warshipped a being of his creation. During the festival he dressed in a toga, almost god like. At this sight many people of the crowd saw this as him claiming himself as the god.

    Robespierre was finally executed after a failed attempt of suicide which left him with a shattered jaw. The leader of the revolution was executed wit the charges of conspiracy and acts against public safety, no one would vote for his innocence. With the leader of the revolution dead, France would no longer have the lust for blood and would slowly reconstruct their new country.
