    The government was in debt for the huge spending of King Louis XVI and queen Marie Antoinette. Aside from this, the previous kings had also been in debt so it all accumulated.

    In this time a lot of bad weather was happening. So all the crops the people had begun to die and this is where people started to loose food.

    After 175 years, a first meeting was held at Versailles with a representative of all three states to approve the king's new tax solution

    The people were unhappy with the choice of government. So they voted to end absolute monarchy and start a representative government.

    A crowd of people looking for gunpowder attacked the guards and took control of the bastille. The attackers held prisioned some guards and the commander and killed them. The fall of the bastille is a great symolic act of revolution to the French.

    The national assembly states the Declaration of man and citizens. It states that ''men are born and remain free and equal in rights'' These rights include liberty,property,security, and resistance to oppression.

    Many of the national assembly reforms focused on the church. The assembly took over the churche's lands and said that the church priests would know have to be elected.

    Some of King Louis' advisors warned him and his family that they were in danger, so they decided to escape from France.

    The French army won a great victory against the Australians and Prussians. But unfortunatly some other countries joined forces with the Australians and Prussians against France.
