    King Charles I and Henrietta Maria got became married. This was a famous marriage due to the fact that Henrietta was a catholic.

    The parliament was non-appreciative of Charles' actions. Parliament wanted Buckingham Palace dismissed, so Charles dimissed Paliament.

    Charles was desperate for money to pay for the expenses of the France and Spain war, so he reluctantly callled on parliament.

    Parliament formed committees and made a Petition of Rights to present the king.

    - condemn any move to change religion
    - condmen taxation levied without Parliament authority
    - any merchant who paid `illegal` taxes betreyed the liberaty of england.

    All people on the kings side of the war were expelled. This allowed parliament the right to make new acts without kings approval. Shortly after this, the trial of Charles began. Charles was tried for treason and was found guilty. He was soon excommunicated.
