While they may not follow a scripted model for reciting various prayers, Methodist churches still follow a common and consistent structure to their worship. One common order includes a musical prelude, singing at various points, Scripture readings from the Revised Lectionary, congregational prayer, a sermon, offering, benediction, and musical postlude.

The Baptist Church emerged from an English Congregational background in 1609. The Church was firmly established in Australia in 1834. The members of the Church appoint a Pastor, ordained by the Baptist Union, as their spiritual leader. The Pastor is sometimes assisted by a layperson who is elected to hold the office of Deacon.

The Lutheran Church was established during the Reformation in Germany under the influence of Martin Luther (1483–1546). The first Lutheran Congregation in Sydney was formed in 1866. The ordained minister of the Church undertakes the ministry of word and sacrament. Baptism and the Lord’s Supper are the two sacraments celebrated. The Book of Concord and the Bible form the basis of Lutheran faith and worship. Lutheran liturgical practice of formal worship is known as the Common Order.

Eastern Orthodox Churches trace their heritage back to the Apostolic Church and the Schism. They continue to practice ancient liturgical and spiritual traditions, such as icons as an aid to worship. Under the Orthodox tradition, priests may marry or remain single, but the unmarried are to become monks before ordination. Seven sacraments are celebrated. The Eucharist is considered central to Orthodox life. The Orthodox Divine Liturgy presents the events which took place at the Last Supper.

The Church of England or Anglican Church began during the Reformation in England (1527– 1603) under Henry VIII, Edward VI and Elizabeth 1. It was the first Christian Church established in Australia in 1788. Anglicans recognise Baptism and the Eucharist as the two great sacraments. The Australian Prayer Book (formerly referred to as the Book of Common Prayer) advises on faith, worship and format of the varying services.

Hillsong Church, commonly known as Hillsong, is a charismatic Christian megachurch based in Australia. The original church was established in Baulkham Hills, New South Wales, as Hills Christian Life Centre by Brian Houston and his wife Bobbie in 1983.
