Launching Sputnik-a launched rocket leads to fear of this rocket delievering nuclear warhead
-Long range missiles were built by both countries
-Canada and US make pact and DEW line set in North Canada detecting when enemies or missiles approach
-This alerts Canada to prepare if conflict is to break
-Canadian pacifists believed that this was set for a nuclear war to be fought over Canada's grounds -

-The idea leads to Pearson becoming Prime Minister of Canada in 1963 providing insight to a great 20th century Canadian -
Continental Alliances: NORAD and DEW line
-NORAD, North American Air Defence, signed
-US and Canada are to defend each other
-DEW, Distant Early Warning, high powered radar antennae set along North Canada
-Ensures safety for Canadians and allows to prepare for attacks -
Diefenbaker, Bomarc missiles and nuclear warheads in Canada
Bomarc Mission-Diefenbaker, the 13th Prime Minister of Canada, apart of the cancellation of Arrow
-Bomarc, like the Arrow but cheaper
-Bomarc missiles were set through out Canada creating dispute whether Canada should adopt nuclear weapons
