    Egypt decided to be the only country to control the suez canal. this brought egypt and isreal into a fight over the canal. the sovietsdecided to back egypt well france and usa backed Isreal. this could of lead to a huge war but the UN called a meeting where the canadian Lester B. person came up with the plan to stop the fighting and advert a possible war.

A USSR ship came into the blockade but stopped and turned around, if it hadnt it could of lead to a war and canada was not pleased becuase they were not informed about the situation.
