  • Charles II

    Charles II came to power when he made a deal with the Scots. He was then proclaimed King.
  • Invading England

    Charles II with a Scotish army went to invade England, but was defeated at the Battle of Worcester.
  • King of England

    Charles II was invited in 1660 to reclaim his throne in England.
  • Duke of Albany

    Charles II named his brother James II the Duke of Albany in Scotland.
  • Great Plague of London

    The efforts of England's health officials to contain the disease failed and the plague kept spreading. At this time the death toll was around 7,000. Charles fled London to speak with Parliament in Salisbury.
  • James II Reign

    Became the King of England, Scotland, and Ireland. Became King when his brother Charles II died.
  • Escaping to France

    During the Glorious Revolution, James II's England was being attacked by William. He tried to flee to France once. But the second time James II was allowed to escape by the Prince of Orange.
  • William & Mary reign

    Due to James II fleeing his kingdom, William & Mary were offered to take over the throne in England.
  • Rumors of Homosexuality

    There were rumors in the 1690's that William was homosexual. Enemies suggested that his relationships with males and the lack of relationship with mistresses led them to believe William was homosexual.
  • Mary's death

    Mary died of small pox leaving William as the ruler of England.
