    Aboriginal Related Event Two: Aboriginals Are Granted The Ability To Vote
    The federal government removed the restrictions placed on aboriginal peoples with respect to the vote. Beginning in 1960, aboriginal Canadians were no longer required to give up their treaty rights and renounce their status under the Indian Act in order to qualify for the vote. These actions by the Canadian govermnet are an attempt to show how we truly value equality in our country.

    The FLQ was a separatist group in Quebec. Founded in the early 1960s. it supported the Quebec sovereignty movement. It was active between 1963 and 1970, and was regarded as a terrorist organization for its violent methods of action. The FLQ was responsible for over 160 violent incidents which killed eight people and injured many more, The FLQ's main goal was to achieve Quebec's idependence.

    After the Americans were denied oil production in the middle east because of the Yom Kippur War, they looked toward the Lubicon Cree to continue there production of oil. And so the Canadian goverment created a deal with the United States that some what disregared the people of the Lubicon. As these oil companies moved in on the land, the people of the land were no longer able to live off the land efficiently due to all of there resources for survival slowly being destroyed.

    The North American Free Trade Agreement is an agreement signed by Canada, Mexico, and the United States. This agreement eliminates majority of trade related tariffs and taxes amongst these three countries. This is important becuse it promotes free trade and stimulates not only the Canadian economy but also Mexico's and The United States Economy.
