  • Canadia Flag was Created

    Canadia Flag was Created
    The House of Commons debated the flag design from November 10 until December 15, 1964. Finally, after 250 speeches on the matter, the House accepted a design by a vote of 163 to 78. On February 19, 1965, the red ensign was lowered and Canada's new flag was raised for the first time at the Parliment buildings in Ottawa. This defined Canadian identity as being one on its own not with any other countries.

    The report stated firmly that French-English duality was a fundamental principle of Canada, and it introduced the concept of Quebec as a "distinct society" within Canada.

    The Centennial outlined a hundred years of Canada being a country on its own. People across Canada celebrated the day by dressing in red and showing off their Canadian Identity.

    The modification of the act meant federal government services had to be provided in either official languages and and that all federal laws and regulations had to be published in both english and French. This showed that Canadian identity was both Engllish language and French language.
  • Via Rail

    Via Rail was the tak over of the passenger trains by the government from CN Railway. This showed Canadian identity as the railway was made when Canada first became a country to go from coast to coasst and the wanted people to still be able to ride the railway by train.
  • O Canada was made the National Anthem

    O Canada was made the official national anthem in 1980. It was made to show what Canadian Identity was all about and to tell people what we believe in.
