    The Paris Peace Conference
    The Paris Peace Conference marked one of the first occurences where Canada and its government were give the oppurtunity to make their own choices. During the Paris Peace Conference the British Government allowed Robert Gorden/Canada to send in their own delegates and its inclusion at the conference respresented Allied recognition of the Canadian Corps Contribution to the war effort.
  • The Chanak Crisis

    The Chanak Crisis
    The Chanak Crisis marked one of the first occasions where the canadian government made their own choice, with no British Influence, on what/how they should use their military to influence foreign affairs. This marks one of the first occasions where Britain could no longer force Canada in to doing what they wanted them to do.
  • The Halibut Treaty

    The Halibut Treaty
    The Halibut Treaty marked the first treaty which Canada negotiated solely by themselves independent of Britain. Up until then Britain was always looked upon to ratify any international agreements they made.
  • The King-Byng Crisis

    The King-Byng Crisis
    The King-Byng Crisis had the impact of re-shaping the powers and definition of a Governer General in the form of taking even more power from Britain. This all occured because the Governer General denied the Prime Minister the right to call for a re-election which showed how Britain was interfering with the affairs of a soverign country.
  • The Balfour Report

    The Balfour Report
    The Balfour Report represents a breakthough in Canada's questo to become fully self-governing. The reports states that Britain and all of its colonies, ie Canada, South Africa, etc, were to become autonomous communities within the British empire all equal in Status. This meant that Canada and the other Dominions were likely to become their own official nations. Following this report, it was later made offical through the Statute of Westminster.

    The Statute of Westminster
    The Statute Of Westminster is seen as act where in which Canada gained complete autonomby. The Statute made the recmmendations which had been made in the Balfour Report Law. By doing this Canada was able to govern itself without having leaving Britain the ability to veto their decision. The one exception was that the Judicial Commitee of the Privy Council in Britain was the highest court in Canada.
