    Lester B. Pearson was a main reason for the peacekeeping of the Suez Crisis. He was the one to keep peace between the Middle East countries. He established the international police force which helped resolve this crisis. This was referred as the UN’s first selected peacekeeping mission.

    The United Nations Emergency Force was created on November 7 1956 this proposal was mostly put by Lester B. Pearson. This act was done Five days after Pearson’s speech on the Suez Crisis. The UNEF was established to help maintain quiet and peaceful situations during the withdrawal “of the armed forces of France, Israel and the United Kingdom from Egyptian territory and to serve as a buffer between the Egyptian and Israeli forces” (). Up to 1,007 personnel were participating in the UNEF.

    United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus was created by the Security Council in 1964. This was established so that further fighting between the Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot communities would come to a conclusion. Operation SNOWGOOSE is Canada's contribution to the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP)” (). Operation SNOWGOOSE was an operation where Canadian troops went over to Cyprus to help maintain peace.

    United Nations India-Pakistan Observer Mission. Canada sends contingent to the border between India and Pakistan to supervise ceasefire” (). There were border issues between these two countries. Canada supplied aircrafts to headquarters to help support the mission.

    United Nations Emergency Force II was established to control the ceasefire between Egyptian and Israeli forces. “Canada sent a contingent to Egypt to supervise the ceasefire between Egyptian and Israeli forces” (). During this peacekeeping mission nine Canadian peacekeeping soldiers were killed when the plan they were travelling in shot down.

    United Nations Protection Force was the first peacekeeping mission in Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina during the Yugoslav wars. "Canada sends a contingent to Croatia to monitor demilitarization of designated areas. The mandate was later extended to Macedonia to monitor border areas" (). About 860 Canadian Forces personnel's were sent to the Balkans.
