Canada was one of the original members of the UN, signing the charter in San Fransisco in 1945. Canada continues to contribute to the decisions made by the organization, considering the human rights of developing countries and offering support in these countries.

    This agency was created to support foreign cooperation with countries all over the world. This agency supports developing countries through raising economic activity, contributing to a food supply that is sustainable, and boosting health and education. This agency protects the human rights of people in developing countries by providing opportunities for the children to learn and grow, and supplying nutrition to the citizens of these countries.

    Passed in 1969, Canada officially decriminalized homosexuality through the Criminal Law Amendment Act 1968-69.This act was influenced by the British Parliament's Sexual Offences Act, 1967. Although the Act was very contreversial to Catholics (Catholic Créditistes of Quebec), the Bill was passed by a vote of 149 to 55. This act suppported the human rights of Canadian, who are entitled to the freedom of expression and sexuality. This act is regarded as an example for other countries.

    The Kyoto Accord was created by the UN in response to the rising global warming crisis. The international treaty was signed with a gal to reduce emmisions of greenhouse gases in industrialized countries. The Kyoto Accord helped the countries of the UN to set standards and limitations on greenhouse emmisions. This ties to the protection of human rights internationally because it is protecting the health of people around the world, and those who live in poverty and suffer because of this.

    On this date, Canada began to collaborate in military defence, reconstruction, and development missions in Afghanistan. Canada follows the US-led bombing of Afghanistan after the terrorist attacks of 9 11. Canada continues to carry out similar peacekeeping missions in Afghanistan as they did in Bosnolia, Samalia, and Haiti. This ties to Canada`s international protection of human rights because we are continuing to assist those suffering from terrorism in Afghanistan, and protecting security.
