Canada Joins United Nations
Canada has been involved in the United Nations since 1945 and took part in drafting the UN charter which is an international treaty that sets out basic principals of international relations. This is tied into the concept of international human rights protection because Canada is trying to help many thematic issues with the Unites Nations. The chater states that they are trying to have better standards of life in large freedom. -
Canada joins the North Atlantic Tready Orginzation (NATO)
The North Atlantic tready was signed in Washington establishing the North Atlantic Treaty organization. It's a politicial and military alliance that promotes the stability of the North Atlantic area and helps fight for peoples freedom. This is tied into the concept of international human rights protection because it helps the international peace and security and a cornerstone of Canadian security and defence policy. -
Repubilic of the Congo
The UN first went into Congo in 1960 with Canadian signallers that got involved by providing communication. This was later modified to MONUC which include maintaining the territorial integrity and politicail independence of the Congo, preventing the occurrence of civil war and securing the removal of all foreign military and this is why it tied into the concept of international human rights protection. -
Canadians Forces in Egypt
Canadian Forces served there for 50 years. Nothing but peace efforts of Canada and other countries seperating them. This mission tied into the concept of international human rights protection beause when the Canadians left for Egypt, when they returned they had a better understanding of military conflict and strife with a deeper appreciation for how complicated the concept of peace was at times. -
Convention on the rights of the child
Children under age 18 also have specific rights recognized in 1989; Convention on the rights of the child and Canada ratified the convention. This gives them vulnerability and dependence. This tied into the concept of international human rights because its talking about the rights that children are given and need to follow just like any other peron does its just that they are special for 18 and under kids.
