    The battle was fought in Beliguim with Britain (Canadian troops) and Germany. The battle was fought during World War 1 is the first major battle fought by Canadian troops. This battle is significant because this was the first time where a ​gas attack was used and Canadians showed their bravery by using techniques from stopping gas getting to them.
  • Paris Peace Conference

    Paris Peace Conference
    A conference held to officially end the war on a peaceful note. All Allied powers had come together to have peace after the war too. Canada demanded a separate seat from Britain.
  • Chanak Affair

    Chanak Affair
    The Chanak Affair was when Prime Minister William Lyon Mackenzie King's first major foreign policy test. The event happened when British troops stationed around Chanak, Turkey after World War 1 and Turkish people were threatening the British troops. This event leads Canada to another step into independent Canadian voice in world affairs.

    The Halibut treaty was a Canadian-American agreement on fishing rights in the Pacific Ocean. It was the first treaty independently negotiated and signed by the Canadian government without Britain. The treaty was the first environmental treaty targeting the conservation of an ocean fish stock.

    The King-Byng Crisis was when the Canadian constitutional crisis putting the powers of a Prime Minister against the powers of a Governor General. It started when the Prime Minister, William Lyon Mackenzie Kind, asked the Governor General, Julian Byng, to dissolve the parliament but Byng refused.

    The Balfour Report was when the document declared that Britain and its Dominions were constitutionally equal to each other. It was an important document in Canada's evolution to be full autonomy nationhood.

    The Statue of Westminister converted the British Empire into the British Commonwealth which caused all commonwealth countries to be free and equal status with Britain.
