    My grandma was born on this special day. Family-allowance payment begin. All families receive a monthly sum for each child under sixteen who is in school. This is special event because if my grandma was living in Canada she would of benefited from this economically.

    On May 8th 1945, Nazi Germany was stopped and did not exist after this day. The horrible treatment of all races especially the Jews was put to a stop. Germany and other places where concentration and extermination camps were set up were over. This day marks a historical moment for Germany and its looks back on when marking the end of the horrific treatment based on religion, race, sexual orientation and ability.

    On April 4, 1949 countries such as Canada, United States, Italy, Portugal, Belgium, Britain, France, Iceland, and Luxembourg signed the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. NATO was a military alliance signed by North America and Europe with hopes to prevent the Soviet Union from taking any hostile actions. Also, (NATO) alliance was to defend each other in the event of an attack. The historical significant of this was to show, the combined strength can prevent war.

    My dad was born on the 23,december 1957 . This event is important because without my dad I would not have the same qualities that I have to be a better person. On the same similar day in Canada the Registered Retirement Saving Plan was introduced, this allowed Canadians who were either self-employed or did not belong to a benefit plan could put aside money for their retirement on a tax deferred basis. This is important because it will insure to have some money left over when retiring.

America was afraid and warned Cuba, but Cuba did give up. Afraid things might get destructive a compromise was made. This is significant because it was tense, and WW3 could have started because of this.

    1st Oct, 1977, Quebec introduced Bill 101 which allowed French to be spoken in the workplace. Furthermore, commercial advertising and informational signs would now be exclusively in French. This resulted in further separation of the French speaking Canadians and English speaking Canadians. Many English speaking Canadians living in Quebec moved out of the province due to this bill.

    Terry Fox was a Canadian legend. After he lost his leg to Cancer, Terry never gave up doing what he love doing. Terry put together a miracle of hope or “marathon of hope”;He would run across Canada on one leg to raise money for Cancer. He was hoping to raise one dollar from every Canadian. This was an important event because it shows bravery and courage. Terry is an icon everywhere for what he did, and affected the world in such way.
