My grandma was born on this special day. Family-allowance payment begin. All families receive a monthly sum for each child under sixteen who is in school. This is special event because if my grandma was living in Canada she would of benefited from this economically. -
victory in Europe Day
On May 8th 1945, Nazi Germany was stopped and did not exist after this day. The horrible treatment of all races especially the Jews was put to a stop. Germany and other places where concentration and extermination camps were set up were over. This day marks a historical moment for Germany and its looks back on when marking the end of the horrific treatment based on religion, race, sexual orientation and ability. -
North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO)
On April 4, 1949 countries such as Canada, United States, Italy, Portugal, Belgium, Britain, France, Iceland, and Luxembourg signed the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. NATO was a military alliance signed by North America and Europe with hopes to prevent the Soviet Union from taking any hostile actions. Also, (NATO) alliance was to defend each other in the event of an attack. The historical significant of this was to show, the combined strength can prevent war. -

My dad was born on the 23,december 1957 . This event is important because without my dad I would not have the same qualities that I have to be a better person. On the same similar day in Canada the Registered Retirement Saving Plan was introduced, this allowed Canadians who were either self-employed or did not belong to a benefit plan could put aside money for their retirement on a tax deferred basis. This is important because it will insure to have some money left over when retiring. -
Cuban missile crisis
On October 13, 1962 the Cuban missile crisis started, this was between America and Cuba. This had started because the Soviet Union moved nuclear missiles to Cuba. America was afraid and warned Cuba, but Cuba did give up. Afraid things might get destructive a compromise was made. This is significant because it was tense, and WW3 could have started because of this. -
A new flag of canada
February 15th 1965, the new Canadian flag was officially hoisted at the peace tower on parliament hill. As new immigrants came to Canada from around the world, Canada was clearly establishing a new and more multicultural identity. This event is significant because it was the first day the new Canadian flag was introduced, and of how it represents Canada. -

This is an important historical event because it shows how far Canada has came in the revolution of confederation. -

The bilingualism and biculturalism commission had recommended a policy of official bilingualism. In 1969, government passed the official languages Act. The act guaranteed that both French and English Canadians could deal with the federal government in their own languages. This is significant because government services were to be available in both languages -
october crisis
The terrorist group Front deliberation du Québec thought violence would show that they wanted an independent Quebec. They kidnapped James Cross and Pierre Laborite. The government called in the War Measures act. Pierre was found dead later on. This was important because it shows how much some people wanted Quebec an independent country. Also how far their willing to go to get what they want. -
Bill 22
In 1974 during the October crisis the Party Quebecois introduced the official language act (bill22).The Quebec liberal government become increasingly concern about the survival of French-Canadian culture in Quebec .It was important because this bill meant that French became the only official civil language making an English-speaking person outraged. -
Bill 101
1st Oct, 1977, Quebec introduced Bill 101 which allowed French to be spoken in the workplace. Furthermore, commercial advertising and informational signs would now be exclusively in French. This resulted in further separation of the French speaking Canadians and English speaking Canadians. Many English speaking Canadians living in Quebec moved out of the province due to this bill. -

Terry Fox was a Canadian legend. After he lost his leg to Cancer, Terry never gave up doing what he love doing. Terry put together a miracle of hope or “marathon of hope”;He would run across Canada on one leg to raise money for Cancer. He was hoping to raise one dollar from every Canadian. This was an important event because it shows bravery and courage. Terry is an icon everywhere for what he did, and affected the world in such way. -
Constituational Act, 1982
Canada, before our constitutional act, was under a British act. Meaning that Canada would have to follow British parliament to fix our constitution This event was significant because it gave Canada the right to change its Constitutions without consulting England The act also includes the "charter of rights and freedoms.”
