    In World War II, Canadian soldiers engaged in a battle defending the British Crown Colony of Hong Kong against the Japanese attack in December 1941. After the battle Canadian soldiers who survived became prisoners of war; many got tortured and starved by Japanese captors. Canadians lost the battle in Hong Kong.

    The battle of D-Day began June 6,1944. The battle happened on the northern coast of France in an area called Normandy. Along the coast are series of beaches that had been all code named; Canada had Juno Beach. The morning of the raid, Germans sent spy planes to try and figure out if and where the invasion would happen. The Allied forces mislead the Germans by setting up fake military equipment.
