    The English arrived at the coast of Virginia and claimed this land. They named the settlement Jamestown in honor of their king.

    Samuel de Champlain sailed up the St.Lawrence with 32 colonists and he founded modren day Quebec. This area became known as New France, the area in which the French claimed.

    Henry Hudson an elishman working for the Netherlands came here searching for northwest sea route to asia. He did not succeed in that but, dicoverd three waterways: The Hudson river, Hudson Bay, and Hudson Strait.

    The English didn't only kill the natives by war but, also disease. In 1616 there was a breakout of smallpox among the natives living along the New Englnd coast. This really lowered the number of the natives by a lot.
