    Hausa Empire

    Location: nothern Nigeria, northwestern Niger
    Population: 15 million
    Neighbors: Kanuri, Fulani, Akan, Songhay, Yoruba
    Founder (Bayajidda) came from the east to escape farther. when he got here he started to employ blacksmiths.
    There are seven states divided up on production. and location is based on what they do for labor.
    Leadership is based on ancestry

    Great Zimbabwe

    Great Zimbabwe is located in central modern-day Zimbabwe. An exceptional feature of the empire were its walls, some of which over five meters high. The empire’s decline came from abandonment.

    Mutapa

    The Mutapa empire was located in modern-day Zimbabwe and Mozambique. Its founders were most likely politically related to the constructors of Great Zimbabwe. The decline was caused by infighting among different factions which eventually got the Portuguese involved.

    Neighbors: Sonhai,Ashanti,Yoruba, Ghana, Wolof, Kanem-bornu The ancient civilization literally sat on a gold mine. Some people thought it to be one of the richest civilizations of the time.They also had a key use of iron for tools and weapons was crucial to their survival.

    The Kilwa Empire was a Medieval sultanate in modern-day Tanzania. At the height of the empire, it stretched over the entire Swahili Coast. It was founded by a Persian prince named Ali ibn al-Hassan Shirazi.
