Spanish Flu Pandemic
The Spanish Flu was an influezena pandemic, lasted from March 1918 to June 1920. Between 50 and 100 million died, with it being one of the deadliest natural disaters in history. -

Mackenzie King made a speech during the beginning of the Great Depression about how social welfare were the responsibilities of provinces. He said that he would not have a five cent piece to any province without a liberal government. This was the reason the Liberals lost the election and the Conservatives took over. -

On to Ottawa Trek
A 1935 social movement of unemployed men protesting the dismal conditions in federal relief camps scattered across Western Canada. They worked and lived in camps at a rate of 20 cents per day before walking out and going on strike in 1935. Strikers decided to travel East to Quebec to the federal government. -
