6. What have you learnt about the technologies for the process of constructing this product?

Blogger
Blogger is a blog publishing service that allows muti-user blogs with time stamped entries. We used blogger as an account of our progress. Our blogger account has four sections; the prelimnary task , research and planning, the main task and evaluation. -
Audacity
is a multi- track recording and editing software that we used to create our radio broadcasts which included a title music , at least one presenter , two outside broadcasts , at least one interview, at least one vox pop , some sound effects and an organised structure. Audacity was a useful multi - tracking recording and editing software ; when constrcuting our vox pop audacity was key in the process of construction. -
Pop shield
A pop shield is an anti-noise protection filter for micropones. It serves to reduce or eliminate 'popping' sounds caused by the mechanical impact of fast moving air on the microphone when recording speech. -
USB Microphone
The USB mic was essential in the construction of our radio news bulletin. We used the USB mic to record the presenters voice. The picture tagged is of our presenter recording our second news item. -
Envelope tool
The envolep tool is ued to control the volume through the track without having to fade it. We used this tool to mellow out intro music to introduce the radio station name. The envelope tool allowed our voice to be clearly projected and heard over the jingle. -
Amplify tool
The amplify tool proved vital when composing the vox pop. during the vox pop we noticed that the voices weren't all the same level some voices were too loud and some not as loud. Since some people were further away from the microphone, they were naturally less audible, so we amplified the audio they provided to ensure that the show was broadcast on an equal noise level. SoundCloud
Soundcloud is an online audio distribution platform that enables its users to upload , share and promote sound clips. Soundcloud has been an important tool during the construction of our local news bulletin , all of our news stories have been uploaded on soundcloud. This makes it easier for our proudction team to share information and costruct a radio show. -
Technologies of social media
Social media sites such as facebok, twitter etc... are very successful resources when finding out about the interests and events happening in the local area. -
PowerPoint
We used powerpoint when constructing our fourth evaluation question. We also used a powerpoint to research the news values of a local radio news show. -
Free music archive
This is another website that we downloaded free content from. FMA is an interactive library of high-quality , legal audio downloads. Every mp3 on the music archive is pre-cleared for certain typesof uses that would otherwise be prohibited by copyright laws that were not designed for the digital era. -
time shift
is the time shift tool. What we have done with this tool is used it The time shift tool was used to shift our pieces of audio to where we wanted it to be. This enables our news item to flow smoothly, organically and be more organized. below shows an example of the time shift tool being used in the creation of our news bulletin. it shows each component being placed in its relevant place -
Portable microphone
We used a portable mic when constructing our vox pop. the mic was used to interview members of the public regarding hacking issues. A vox pop is a recording of many recordings which states the opinions and beliefs of the majority. The question we asked the public was "do you agree that webcams are affecting your privacy?" -
Memory stick
To transfer files from my one pc to another , we used memory sticks to share information so that all of our work will be stored on one computer. -
Digital camera
Throughout the construction of our radio news bulletin, we used a digitial camera to take photos of the progress we were making. -
Sound effects- Free SFX
Free SFX is where we downloaded our sound effects from; we used them during outside broadcasts e.g. on a building sight. -
Creately
Creately allows it's users to create online spider diagrams; this helped us when answering evaluation question 2. -
Slide share
In order to embed our powerpoint into our blog post we used slide shar; a web based slide hosting service allowing us transfer our powerpoints into our blogs. -
Garageband
Title Music
We used Garageband to create out title music and jingle for our local radio news bulletin. -
Google Hangount
When constructing our local radio news bulletin and evaluation questions when doing work at home google hangout was the easiest way to contact members of the group. Google hangout allows a group of people to video call for free. -
Search Engines
DuckDuckGois the search engine that doesn't track you; it is a search engine that keeps your searches private. Therefore it does not allow you to fall victim to the 'internet bubble' . Google is the most popular search engine that decides what news stories to show and more crucially what news stories to sensor. The internet is censoring headlines through this 'filter bubble' by only showing us what they want to show us. -
Zoom tool
the zoom tool was essential in the editing process of creating the radio news bulletin. it allowed us to get close and personal to cut out any unnecessary pauses as seen in the picture.
what this enables us to do is cut out any unnecessary noise or pauses that occur, allowing our news item to flow well. -
Camtasia
Camtasia was used when constructing our third evaluation question; Camtasia is a video editing software that allows it's users to record a video whilst viewing another screen. -
Prezi
Evaluation question 5Prezi is a presentation software that allows its users to create online silde shows. We used prezi for our fifth evaluation question. Prezi has a variety of different structures with built in animation.
