The Childrens Crusade begins. It took place between the fourth and fifth crusades.

Over 30,000 children are gathered and marched through towns chanting. When they went to the port to sail to Jerusalem many of them were kidnapped and sold in Alexandria as slaves.

More than 50,000 women and children were supposed to sail to the holy land. Only about 2 or 3 thousand manadged to sail away. They were never heard of again

Pope Innocent 3 says in retaliation of the German Childrens Crusade "Put us to shame, as we sleep they rush to recover the holy land.
