    Peter the Hermit was only 19 years old when the first Crusade began. He led one of the first bands in the crusades. Even though he lost he still succeed in leading an important army.

    The Byzantine empire was destroyed by the Seljuk Turks, and Peter the ermits band was either taken prisoners or killed. They lost badly even though thay fought a good battle.

    Pope Urban the second and the Byzantine empire launched the first crusade on Augus 15, 1096. They were battling the Seljuk Turks, and taking back the sacred Holy Land that was once theirs.
