    The Doomsday Book

    The Doomsday Book
    Cause: The Doomsday book was created after the Battle of Hastings in 1066. The new King, William the Conqueror wanted to know how much money to charge through taxes to the people of England. The King sent officials to different parts of England to make the records. Effect: The officials reported back to the king with their findings. Their findings was then recorded into the book. The findings were everybody's job in England, a survey and valuation of all the land held by the King.

    The Battle of the Hastings

    The Battle of the Hastings
    Cause: The battle of Hasting began on Saturday the 14th of October 1066, the two army’s that fought against each other were the Norman French Army and English Army. The French army was led by Duke William and the French led by King Harold the second. Effect: The English were winning the battle at first but they believed that the French were retreating so the English chased the French. That meant that they gave away their high ground which caused them to lose the battle of The Hastings.

    The First Crusade

    The First Crusade
    Cause: The First crusade began when a Pope Claremont preached the First Crusade at the Council of Claremont. The Christians made a war with the Muslims to re-capture Jerusalem.
    Effect: Thousands of people began to putting the cross onto their garments. The battle lasted from 1095 to 1099 and the Christians took back their holy land.

    The Crusades

    The Crusades
    Cause: The Crusades were a series of Holy wars to take back their land for the Moslems as it was taken from them in 1065. The first Crusade began in 1095 and the last Crusade began in 1271.

    Effect: There was nine Crusades in total, four of those were called the Principal Crusades. The left over four were called the Minor Crusades. The ninth Crusade called a Children's Crusade.

    Khmer Empire
    Cause: There was lots of cultural believes including Buddhism and Hindu. The Empire built many temples such as Ta Keo and Pre Rup. They also built hundreds of and buildings, roads and towns. Effect: In 1100 A.D Khmer had conquered most of Southeast Asia.The Empire had good irrigational systems which allowed them to produce lots of rice which gave the Empire wealth.

    Minamoto Yoritomo

    Minamoto Yoritomo
    Minamoto Yoritomo was the Founder of the first warrior government in Kamakura. Minamoto’s father was Yoshitomo and his mother was Fujiwara Suenori. In 1158 Minamoto was twelve and he received his first court title and not long after he became an administrator. Effect: At the end of the year 1158 Minamoto lost the Hogen War to the Taira because of this Yoritomo was banished to Izu in the Kanto. He stayed in Kanto for over twenty years. Minamoto Yoritomo died in 1199 after a sudden death.

    The Third Middle Ages
    Cause: People that lived in the Middle Ages had very bad hygiene and living conditions. They lived in rural areas and never travelled more than a few miles away from their home.

    Effect: The effect from the medieval period caused people to want better living and working conditions. They wanted more freedom rights and they wanted a parliament. From all of the requests a government was introduced and more rights were given.

    Mongolian Empire

    Mongolian Empire
    Cause: The Mongolian expansion began in Central Asia in 1209. Genghis Khan united many tribes in 1209. Temujin became the leader of the Mongolians and later he created the largest empire in the world. Effect: The first battle that the empire lost was the battle of the Ain Jalut in 1260. The battle was in Israel against Egyptian Muslims called Mamluks. Genghis Khan died in 1277, after his death his son took over the empire.

    Mongols Attack For The Second Time
    Case: In 1281, the Mongols sent two armies. The Mongols' wanted to invade the imperial Yuan fleets. Effect: The Korean and Chinese fleet took over Iki-shima and then attacked the Kyūshū fleets. The Japanese army was outnumbered by thousands. On august 15 kamikaze attacked the shores of Kyūshū. He attacked there for two days and he destroyed most of the Mongol fleet.

    Persecution of the Jews

    Persecution of the Jews
    Cause: In medieval society Jews were discriminated. In the 14th century the church completely isolated the Jews from the Christians. Effect: During the Black Death the society accused the Jews of poising the wells in the community. Anybody that drank the water from the well would have been infected with the plague. Jews were slaughtered and burnt on the stake because of this and many Jews died which lead to decrease of population.

    The Introduction of Black Death
    The Black Deaths outbreak began in 1346 and stopped in 1353. Between those times the plague spread from Asia across the Middle East, Europe and North America. The plague killed millions of people throughout the whole world. The plague was carried by rodents. Fleas would then bite the rodents and then move on to humans. Then the contagious plague would of spread to other humans.

    The Flagellants
    Cause: The Flagellants believed that the way they could prevent the plague was to pray, and confess their sins to God. Effect: They believed that for God to forgive them they must punish themselves, they stripped down to the waist and whipped themselves on their back. They burnt herbs and flowers, they believed that this cleaned the air of the plague.

    The Peasants' Revolt

    The Peasants' Revolt
    Cause: All of the peasants rights were taken away from them after the Black Death.The amount of money that the peasants paid on taxes increased and the money was used to pay for wars. Peasants were forced to work on the churches land and not on their own, this meant that crops were dying which lead to not having enough food for their families. Effect:All peasants from Essex and Kent joined an army and travelled to London. The army invaded the Tower of London and killed Archbishop of Canterbury.

    The Fall of Constantinople

    The Fall of Constantinople
    Cause: Constantinople was the capital of Byzantine Empire until 1453, when Sultan Mehem II, ruler of the Ottoman Turks attacked the city.
    Effect: Constantinople was defended by approximately 10,000 men whereas the Turks had between 100,000 and 150,000. The fight went on for fifty five days, the Turks won and took over the city, in 1930 it was renamed as Istanbul.

    French Invasion of Italy

    French Invasion of Italy
    Cause: During the period of 1494 and 1559 there was a series of French invasions trying to conquer Italy. Effect: In October 1494 Charles VIII made a large army of 25,000 men and invaded Italy. The French took over most of Italy but on February 1495 they reached Naples and invaded it without a fight. After the invasion the French went back to France only leaving a few troops behind. The Italians realised that they could get back Naples so they joined an army with Venice and took back Naples.

    The battle of Nagashino

     The battle of Nagashino
    Cause: The battle of Nagashino was on June the twenty eighth, 1575. The battle took place on the Shitaragahara plain next to Nagashinos Castle in central Japan. Effect: The Takeda Katsuyori fought against the Oda Nobunaga and Tokugawa Leyasu. Takeda Katsuyori invaded the Nagashino castle and won the battle.

    Oda Nobunaga
    Cause: Odas father was called Oda Nobuhide and his mother was called Tsuchida Gozen. Oda was born on the twenty third ofJune, 1534.Nagoya Castle, Owari Province. On the twenty first of june, 1582 Oda was killed by Akechi Mitsuhide.

    Effect: Akechi Mitsuhide was one of Odas main generals who betrayed him. Akechi was working for opposition undercover.
  • The Great Plauge of London

    The Great Plauge of London
    Cause: The bacteria infection called Y. pestis arrived in London from rats that carried fleas. The rats were attracted by the rubbish left on the streets of cities. When the flea would leave the rat it would then go on to bite a human. Effect: The great plague killed up to 100,000 people. During September 1665 the plague killed approximately 8,000 per week.
  • Commodore Matthew

    Commodore Matthew
    Mathew Perry was born on April the tenth, 1794. Mathew was a Commodore for the United States and he was captain for many ships that fought many wars.
    Mathew died on March the fourth, aged sixty three. He died from Rheumatic fever that had spread to his lungs which was incurable.
  • Viking Expassion

    Viking Expassion
    Cause: In the eighth century the Vikings invaded West Europe. They attacked from the sea in boats which were perfect for invading and attacking.
    Effect: In the year 800 Charles The Great was made to improve his coastal defence because of the recent attacks from the Vikings. The Vikings had infested the Gallic sea and attacked many empires.
