    THE MEDIEVAL PERIOD

    .The so-called Dark Ages, from 455 to 799 AD, followed the fall of Rome and the movement of barbarian tribes into Europe; Franks, Ostrogoths, Lombards and Gothic tribes settled in the ruins of Europe and the Anglo-Saxons and Jutes migrated to Britain displacing the native Celts to Scotland, Ireland and Wales.
