Dad moves to Australia

Sometime when I was one, my dad moves to Wollongong, Australia to pursue his Ph.D. in Mechnical Engineering.

Jan 1, 1989

Mom follows my dad

Sometime in 1989, my mom follows my dad to australia, leaving me in the care of my parternal grandparents and my babysitter.

Jan 1, 1990

I move to Australia

I fly to Australia by myself, having been promised that I would meet the Monkey King on the way there. I did not get to meet the Monkey King, but I did see my dad for the first time in two years. I remember my dad kneeling down and I ran the length of 10 yards into his arms. This was also the first time I rode in a car -- i threw up. And also climbed over a fence that overlooked a cliff while my parents backs were turned. They bought a leash after that. I went to Keiraville Public School

Moved to Lexington, Kentucky

We moved to Lexington Kentucky for 9 months while my dad did research there. This is the time I pulled the fire alarm three times in a row, met the firemen and the policemen, had my fingers crushed, and spoke my first English word.

Sep 1, 1992

Moved back to Wollongong

When I first went to Australia, we lived in a farmhouse. This time, we lived in an apartment complex. I had toy transformers i'd play with, and a 3 wheel toy motorcycle that I would love to parallel park. Geometry was intriguing.

Jul 1, 1994

Off to China (7.5 years old)

I went to China, my mom went to Japan to study, my dad went to Iowa to take on a job as a professor at Iowa State. I attended 2nd grade, got a position as a class lieutenant or something like that and wore a red ribbon. My parents came 6 months later and began to make my little brother.
