The British forces won the battle.

    It was the final major battle of the War of 1812. It was a decisive American victory even though they were out numbered 11,000 to 4,000. This battle was after the peace treaty was signed in Europe but it took awhile to get the news to North America. It is regarded as the greatest American victory of the War of 1812.
