    The Rise of the Akkadian empire

    First empire in world history. Sargon (leader of the Akkadians), overran the sumerian city-states and set up the first empire in world history. He used former rulers of the conquered city states as his governors. It included Mesopotamia as well as lands west of the mediterranean. Sargon was remembered in chronicles that he "had no rival or equal".

    Sargon's Grandson Takes Over

    Sargon's grandson (Naram-Sin) ruled from 2260 B.C.-2223 B.C. He continued the empire.
  • 2150 BCE

    The fall of the Akkadian empire

    He declared himself a god. The empire did not last though. They got attacked by neighbors and caused the empire to fall in 2150 B.C.
  • 1792 BCE

    The Rise of the Babylonian Empire

    The end of the Akkadian empire brought independent city-states back in Mesopotamia. After a long period of warfare among city-states, a new empire arose.

    Hammurabi's Rule

    Hammurabi, a king from babylon, which was a city-state south of Akkad, came to power. At war, he divided his opponents and subdued them one by one.

    The Code of Hammurabi is Established

    It was based on a system of strict justice. Criminal offenses were severe. A crime against a noble committed by a commoner was punished more severely than the same offense against a member of the lower class.

    The Death of Hammurabi

    Hammurabi died in 1750 B.C. A series of weak kings were unable to keep the empire united. It fell to invaders.

    End of the Middle Kingdom

    Egypt got invaded around 1650 B.C.A group of people called the Hyksos ended the Middle Kingdom. They were from Western Asia.

    The Rise of The New Kingdom

    The Pharaoh Ahmose I managed to defeat the Hyksos. This resulted in the expulsion of the Hyksos from Egypt.

    The New Kingdom

    The Pharaoh Ahmose I managed to defeat and expel the Hyksos from egypt. He reunited Egypt and established the New Kingdom.
  • 1412 BCE

    The Reign of Amenhotep III

    The New Kingdom reaches its height during the reign of Amenhotep III. His achievements included the construction of magnificent new buildings and temples. Famous for the temple centers at Karnak and Luxor and the 70 foot high statues of Amenhotep III in front of temples along the Nile.

    The Reign of Ramses II

    Ramses II reigned from 1279 B.C. to 1213 B.C. the Egyptians regained control of Canaan but were unable unable to establish the borders of their earlier empire. The "Sea People destroyed the Egyption power in Canaan.
  • 1070 BCE

    The Fall of The New Kingdom

    Egyptians fell to the "Sea People". They drove the Egyptians back within their own frontier. The days of the Empire ended.

    Kush Conquers Egypt

    Kush became an independent state when The New Kingdom collapsed. This resulted in the conquest of Egypt. Kush conquered Egypt in 750 B.C.
  • 700 BCE

    The Rise of the Assyrian Empire

    They exploited the use of iron weapons. Included Mesopotamia, Syria, Egypt, and Israel.
  • 663 BCE

    The Assyrians Conquer the Kushites

    The Kushites still used bronze and stone weapons. This lead to the Conquering of them by the Assyrians.
  • 612 BCE

    The Fall of the Assyrian Empire

    It fell to a coalition of Chaldeans and Medes. It was divided into two powers.
  • 559 BCE

    The Rise of the Persian Empire

    The Persians and Indo-Europeans were unified into one family. Cyrus created a powerful Persian state that stretched from Asia Minor to India.
  • 521 BCE

    The Rule of Darius

    He added a persian province in western India that extended to the Indus River. He then conquered Thrace in Europe. This created the world's most largest empire to that time. He ruled from 521 B.C. to 486 B.C.
  • 330 BCE

    Alexander the Great

    The Persian Empire fell from the lack of rulers. This lead to the fall of the empire, and the conquest of it by Alexander the Great.
