  • To a new country

    To a new country
I am now 18. I came from hot and humid to smoky foggy and chilled. The customs at Angel Island were depressing because they people from different cultures were being voilated by the doctors. Hopefully the oppurtunities will open up for the people from my land. I know it's gonna be rough but it's what I want.My family needs me to send them over.

    first job
I have been offered a job as a horse tender for a large estate. I’m very grateful the family is very nice and feeds me. They pay decently and aren’t strict with the regulations that they want the horse to be cleaned.
  • RR

    RR
I’ve been working for this rich family for a while and they started to demand more from me which I didn’t like so I left to work for the rail road. The rail road doesn’t’ pay nearly as well as the family did but, I feel companionship with the other men on the RR. Though ever since I heard about those Irish immigrants killed I’ve been worried. Are they gonna kill me.
  • Fed up

    Fed up
After finally being harassed and attacked by many of the Americans. I have also lost everything I own twice by these lousy people. I’m fed up and now I’m moving to San Francisco, to start a new life as a skyscraper worker. The task is dangerous I will push on to make money and survive.
  • Immobilized

    Immobilized
I’m paralyzed from my hip down from a two story fall working on a skyscraper. Right now I’m living in the slums. I’m poor but still people from other countries think that everything okay an America is a healthy, stable environment. For most people it is the complete opposite.
  • Convienece

    Convienece
I’ve been hired as a clerk for a convenience store luckily enough I could afford a place in a tenement although it is filthy I has a bed and running water. It also has and elevator. Finally I could afford enough for my family to travel back over to the United States.
  • retirement

    retirement
I wrote to my family but I got no response for a while which either means they don’t want to come over or worse. I’ve retired because I have the money to support myself for as long as I live and now that I own Bart’s convenience store I’m living the American dream.
