My First Job
I had been looking and applying to many places while looking for a job since 2015.I had wanted to work since I've been 14 to make my own money and spend it on what ever I want. Always asking my parents for money before made me feel like I never earned the money. So I then applied to the Blazer Pub in North Salem. After a week of waiting I was given a call to come in on Wednesday to do an Interview. I came in for the interview and it went well. I was given the Job and began my first day. -
I Was Born
I was born on May tenth of 2000. I was the second child of the family to be born and raised and still am. I was named Kevin for really no reason. This changed my life because without being born I wouldn't be here or I wouldn't have done the successful things or made all the mistakes that have happened in my life. I was not born in the U.S., as a matter of fact, I was born in Guatemala City in Guatemala which is in Central America(Which is the area between North America and South America. -
Moving to the United States
We lived in a small house in Guatemala. But, we(My brother, sister and I) were raised by my grandparents for the first few years of my life since my parents were working most of the time. I moved to the U.S. because of hard times in Guatemala since it isn't one of the best countries to live in. Me and my family came to the U.S. by plane which I can' t remember because I was only 2. We landed after a few hours of being in the air and were picked up by my uncle whom we then lived with for a bit. -
Shooting My First Real Basket in Basketball
I was with my dad at Markel Park in Brewster, NY because I wanted to go out and play. Staying at home was pretty boring sometimes especially because my brother was already going tot kindergarten (Which I had to wait another year to go to). While my dad and I were at the park he began to show me how me how to dribble a ball which I was able to do since it's such an easy task. Then he told me to throw the ball into the basket which was little harder. But after about 20 minutes of trying, I did it. -
First Time on a Water Slide
I was finally tall enough to ride a water slide but I was scared to do it on my own. So, I asked my mom to go down the slide with me and she said that she would. As line got shorter and we spent more time on it, I was even more nervous. Once we got to the front of the line, it was our turn and my mom sat down on the slide and told me to sit between her legs. I did, and we went down. It was the fastest thing I've ever rode. At the exit, we fell out and i got stuck under my mom, who pulled me out. -
Learning To Swim
We went to a beach in Cape Cod, Massachusetts which we went to visit as a family vacation. A family friend also joined us. When we we went on the beach of Cape Cod everyone was swimming, but I was just standing in the water watching. After watching for so long I wanted to try so badly, so I asked my dad to take me further into the Ocean and let me go, which he did. I began to sink quickly and felt like I was going to drown, but with a lot of work, I finally began to do a really bad doggy paddle. -
Cutting My Chin Open
I was at my friends house for his birthday party. He had hay bales, a bounce house, and a water slide at the party for everyone to have fun with. Only about 30 minutes passed, and I've been eating a lot of hot dogs and burgers because I was hungry like a wolf. We then started to jump from hay bale to hay bale. I thought that I could make a meter and a half jump from a hay bale to a cement walkway. I took the leap but I didn't jump far enough and fell on my chin and was rushed to the hospital. -
Getting Covered in Poison Ivy
Me and my brother were playing outside our home with our neighbors. Then, we began to play with sticks. We used them as swords and had a sword fight. My friend then found a branch that he found on the ground which had a lot of leaves and some vines on it which he began to use. That night I woke up that night in a deep sweat. I went to the bathroom and looked in the mirror. My body was covered with poison ivy rashes and my eyelids were bloated. I missed school for the next week because of it. -
learning to Ice Skate
My friend invited me ice skating which I've never done, however it was not my first time doing something similar to this. I had roller skated before which isn't too hard so I believed that I would be the same. So I got onto the Ice I immediately slipped and fell which is when I knew it wouldn't be as easy. After practicing and falling on the floor for about an hour I was able to skate around the Ice rink. Finally I felt like I finally mastered it but the realized, I don't know how to stop. -
First Mess Up at My Job
I had begun working at The Blazer Pub a few of weeks before. I felt like I was doing very well. I bussed tables and teld people where to sit. I was told to go put 7 plastic cups of water on a table. I then grabbed a tray for water, placed the cups on them and filled them up. I was then on the move. Every table I passed made me feel even more confident than I was at first. I Began placing the cups down. By The time I placed the 6th one down, I lost balance and the cup fell down onto the table.
