  • Born

    Born
On Deccember 6th, 1990 I was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
  • First Steps

    First Steps
My mom wrote in my baby book that I took my first steps on my own about a week after Thanksgiving and a week before my first birthday. This gave me a lot of confidence that made me realize I was independent of my parents and was important to my psychosocial development.
  • First Birthday Party

    First Birthday Party
For my first birthday, my family celebrated by throwing a birthday party. Though I do not remember the party or my first birthday, it was an important event during my biosocial development during my first two years of life.
  • First Words

    First Words
My mom noted that I spoke my first words just after Halloween and about a month before my second birthday. This was an important event in my cognitive development.
  • Began preschool

    Began preschool
I began attending preschool in 1993. Preschool was the first time I experienced being around a large group of peers who I interacted with and learned from. Preschool was an important part of my psychosocial development during the play years.
  • Soccer

    Soccer
At the age of three, I began playing soccer. Soccer became an important aspect of my biosocial development in my childhood.
  • Began learning Spanish

    Began learning Spanish
In first grade, I began to learn the Spanish language. English is my first language, so Spanish was a second language to me. Learning a second language during play years increased my cognitive development.
  • Travel Soccer

    Travel Soccer
At 10 years of age, I went to soccer try outs and was selected to be on a travel soccer team. This was the first time that it seemed I was able to master a certain skill. As I entered my school years, travel soccer helped my biosocial development.
  • Multiplication and long division

    Multiplication and long division
In third grade I learned how to work out multiplication and long division math problems without using a calculator. Mathematics became an important part of my cognitive development during my school years.
  • My first pimple

    My first pimple
When I was 11 years old I noticed my first pimple on my face. Later that year, at school, my voice cracked for the first time. Over the next few years I developed many more pimples and my voice cracked more than once. While there was nothing I could do to control the changes my body was going through, it was nevertheless embarassing. Going through puberty was an important part of my biosocial development during my adolescence.
  • Friends

    Friends
After beginning middle school, I met a group of friends who are still close today. Together, we helped eachother with our psychosocial development.
  • Started my first job

    Started my first job
When I was 14 years old I started my first job. I worked part time as a bus boy in a restaurant near my home. Though the job was not horrible, it was a dead end job with little opportunity to advance and it made me realize that the restaurant business was not what I wanted to do for the rest of my life.
  • Conflicting with parents

    Conflicting with parents
After I got my driver's license on my 16th birthday, it was a never ending battle between my parents and me about what time I needed to be home on the weekends. We never really fought about anything, but we certainly would bicker about issues like this. These disagreements were an important aspect of my psychosocial development during my adolescence.

conflict with parents over what time I needed to be home on the weekends. bickering often took place with my parents
  • First steady job

    First steady job
I started my first steady job at an athletic store. Unlike working at a restaurant that was a dead end job, this job has geared me towards a future career. I have now worked here for more than four years and collaborate with customers to find the best equipment for their specific needs to prevent and treat athletic injuries. This job will help me in the field of physical therapy and was crucial to my psychosocial development.
  • My first gray hair

    My first gray hair
At 20 years of age I noticed my first gray hair. I do not have many gray hairs but there are a few. My gray hair shows senescence and also was a part of my biosocial early adulthood.
  • Confirmation

    Confirmation
This past May my brother and I received our c=Confirmation as Catholics. Both of our parents were raised Catholic and raised my siblings and me the same way. They left the decision of whether to receive confirmation to us. At 21 years of age I felt I was old enough to consider my own values for myself and make that decision on my own rather than have my parents make it for me. Confirmation was important to my cognitive development in early adulthood.
  • Begin of my career and starting a family

Begin of my career and starting a family
Since I have begun working and have a family at this point in my life, I do not have the time that I used to spend exercising. When I was younger I was very active running and playing soccer but do not have the same energy anymore. Now because I do not have nearly as much spare time as I once did, I cannot run or play soccer as much as I used to and therefore have gained weight. I am about 15 pounds heavier than when I was in my early adulthood stage. This is part of my biosocial development
  • Work throughout my career

    Work throughout my career
About 10 years into my career, I have developed quite an expertise in my profession. At this point in my career I am able to treat patients more effectively than when I first joined the workforce. Having seen a variety of different ailments through my patients has given me more experience as to what my patients will benefit from most. This is part of my cognitive development during middle adulthood.
  • Retirement

    Retirement
At this point in my life I will retire from my job. By the time I am between the ages of 62 and 65 I will have worked for about 40 years. My children will have grown up and perhaps have had their own children and started families of their own. Retiring is an important part of the end of my middle adulthood and it's psychosocial development.
  • Full head of gray hair

    Full head of gray hair
he hair on my head, legs and arms has become completely gray. When I was younger I had a full, thick head of hair. It has become thinner as I have aged, though I am still healthy. I am now in the late adulthood phase of my life since retirement and this represents the biosocial aspect of that.
  • Gardening

    Gardening
Though my memory is not as sharp as it once was, I keep myself busy by gardening and maintaining my yard, which I have done throughout my life. I have not moved out of my house and like to occupy my free time by working around the house. I also enjoy doing this because it is good exercise for me at my age and I get to enjoy the outdoors. This is all important for my psychosocial development during my late adulthood
  • Short-term memory loss

    Short-term memory loss
My working memory, commonly known as short-term memory, has drastically declined. While my long-term memory still unimpaired, I am having difficulty storing new information that is presented to me. I am especially struggling with multitasking and the dual-task deficit. At nearly 85 years of age, this is normal as I decline. I have been in the late adulthood stage of my life for quite some time and this is part of the cognitive aspect of that.
  • Death

    Death
Four days after my 88th birthday, I will die of natural causes. Though my friends and family will mourn, it will be easier for them to know that I went peacefully and lived a long life.
