I was born on the day of July 16th 2003. I have been influenced by this event, clearly, as it has brought me into this world a started my first life event. Being born into that year, I am apart of a cohort known as "Gen Z".

Attending school as a child has influenced me majorly. I was a part of one of my first social institutions, education, and transitioned from being a daughter, to now a student. I learned how to interact with others my age and the socially normal behaviour of a child at school.

In July of 2017 I got my first job at Peninsula Ridge Winery and Restaurant in my town, Grimsby. This was a huge life event for me as I got to learn customer service and business mannerisms. My role set now included being a daughter, student, and employee. I learned the social norms of how to act in a business setting, and experienced role strain as the job was very demanding and caused a lot of stress.

As everyone would agree, High School is a big life event. I went to a bigger school with so many more students, I had to learn fast how to interact with the teenagers in my cohort. I experienced role conflict during high school as I was now balancing being a student, employee, daughter and a member of a social environment.

Once I graduate High School, I will be attending College. It will be a big transition for me transitioning from a High School student to a College student. Living on my own will bring on big responsibilities and it is possible I will feel role strain as College is very difficult and time consuming. It will especially hard if I choose to stay local and keep a job during the school year, leading to role conflict.

With marriage I will then add another role to my role set, a wife. Marriage is one life event/milestone I cannot wait to experience. Although living with a significant other can be straining at times, it is something very exciting. Marriage also comes with scary things such as buying a house, paying bills and supplying for you and your partner, which can very much lead to role conflict.

There are many people who say they were put on this earth to have children, one of them being myself. There is tremdendous amount of social norms when it becomes to being a parent, like teaching them right from wrong and to treat others with kindness. Again with this life event, mother will be added to my role set. Role conflict can arise with this event as now I will have a child to take care of while working, taking care of my house, participating in activities, etc.

Retirement is the last big life event, in my opinion. With my status as a senior, I will collect my pension and possibly join a retirement home, interacting with all my peers in my cohort. I will make the transition from employee to senior, and enjoy my time while it lasts.
