Sister Irene and Sister Dorothy stayed in the town of Huasahusai because they wanted to continue to serve the people and not abandon them.

A Video on her deathMay 21st 1991 the Shining Path guerrillas came looking for Irene, when they found her they marched her down to the middle of the central plaza, and it was here a young girl shot her in the back of her head, ending Sister Irene McCormacks life for doing the right thing and helpings others in need.
