Irene McCormack was born on the 21st of August 1983, in Kununoppin Western Australia.

In 1956, when Irene was 17 years old, she made the brave decision to enter the Sisters of St.Joseph, the religious order founded by St. Mary Mackillop and it is also known as the Josephites.

On the 6th of January, Irene recieved vows as a novice into the order.

On the 6th of January 1959, Irene took her first vows.

Sister Irene spends the next 30 years teaching in WA. Some schools she taught at are: Boulder Upper Primary, Kalgoorlie (years 6 and 9), New Norica Secondary and much more. She was also the principal of Kearnan College and Manjimup Upper Secondary.

On the 10th of August 1965, Irene took her final vows in North Sydney.

On the 4th of July, Irene graduated from the university of Western Australia with a major in geography.

Sister Irene actually arrived in Peru in 1987, but then was appointed to Huasahuasi on the 26th of June 1989. She took the challenge and quoted "I have come to understand that effective action is a way of loving" -
On the 26th of Arpril, the Josephites celebrated 10 years of great work in Peru

Death of sister Irene
On the 21st of May 1991 she was escorted from her home to the plaza for a public trial, then she was killed by the Shining Path.
