In 1956 Irene started working as a Sister of St. Joseph.

In 1957, Irene received vows as a novice in the order.

In 1959, Irene embarked on taking her first vows and her last vows a year later.

Irene McCormack started teaching at South Perth School and she taught years 5-8. Teaching at South Perth School was only the beggining of her teaching carrier as she taught at many other schools.

After teaching at South Perth School, Irene moved on to teach at Kalgoorlie School in early 1964.

Irene became a teacher at yet another school called Boulder Upper Primary. She taught at this school only for 2 years

Whilst in Peru, Irene recieved a letter from Eileen Carr, she replies to it and stated "...it was a confirmation of my belief in God's love working in a down-to-earth Incarnational way..." The image in this event shows what she said to Eileen Carr.
