During 1987, the Intifada was created as a violent resistance to Israeli control. After much fighting with Israel, more than 1,000 young people died. Those people were aminly young Palestinians.

The Israelis began constucting security barriers around the West Bank in the 1990s in the hopes of reducing Palestinian terrorist attacks on their home. The plan succeeded in reducing attacks, but the wall seperated many Palestinian people from their families and homeland.

Israel agreed to a peace plan with the Palestinian Liberation Organization in 1994. The plan ensured that the Palestinian Authority would rule parts of the West Bank and Gaza Strip that weren't controlled by Israel. Israel decided to remove sttlers from the Gaza Strip and parts of the West Bank, and the PLO halted all terrorist attacks on Israel. Soon enough, however, the two sides accused each other of violating the plan and it failed.

After the peace plan failed, the angry Palestinians launched a second Intifada. During this time, terrorists attacked civilians inside of Israel. A great battle went on until around 2005.

In 2006, the Palestinian political party called the Hamas won the most seats in the parliament. Because of their dominance in the parliament, the Hamas stated tht they wanted to wipe the state of Israel from existance.

The Hamas posed as a big threat to Israel's existance. They took control of the Gaza Strip in 2007. After that, Israel imposed a blockade on the Gaza Strip. The Hmas then shot rockets into Israel, killing over 12 civilians. Then, Israel made a statement by bombing the Gaza Strip in 2008 and 2009. They also sent soldiers into the Strip to capture or kill Hamas troops.
