    Pachacuti Inca Yupanqui becomes the new leader of the Inca. He starts to conquer nearby tribes and cities, expanding the Inca area of control. He reorganises the Tawantinsuyu government and builds the city of Machu Picchu.

    Pachacuti's son, Tupac Inca Yupanqui becomes emperor. He will expand the Inca empire greatly.

    The Chuma empire is conquered by Tupac, furthering the Inca's area of control.

    Tupac's son, Huayna Capac, becomes emperor. Under his rule, the Inca empire reached it's peak.

    Decline and Fall of the Inca Empire

    Emperor Huayna Capac dies of a plague of smallpox, likely brought by Spanish conquistadors. A lot of the population of the Inca Empire dies from this plague.

    Atlahuapla and Huascar, the sons of Huayana Capac, fight over who should get the crown. The Inca Empire stays at war for the next five years.

    Atahuapla defeats Huascar and becomes emperor. At the same time, Spanish conquistador, Francisco Pizzaro arrives in Peru. Pizarro captures Atahualpa and holds him captive for ransom purposes.
