The Tennis Court Oath
Members of the Third Estate walked out of the meeting, they moved to a near by tennis court. The Third Estate then made an outh to never seperate until France had a constitution. -
Storming of the Bastille
The peasants came to the aid of the Bourgeoisie. They got weapons for themselves. They stormed the Bastille, which was the French prison, with only a handful of prisoners. Their goal was to free the prisoners, but there wasnt as many as they expected. -
September Massacres
The peasants killed imprisooned nobles and priests in masses. Radicals took over the legislative Assembly and they called for a National Convention -
Reign of Terror
The Reign of Terror was led by Robespierre. People who opposed to the Revolution wre denounced. Tens of thousands were killed. -
The Directory
By 1795 moderates were back in power. A group of five men that governed France for 1795-1799. They were weak and insufficient.
