it was a time were people were in a panic from fear of having the third estate being overthrown. This fear led to the attack of The Bastille. This led to the imposing of rights in france. The feudal regime was also abolished. -
Louis XVI convenes Estates General
in the first meeting of the estates generals since 1614, they met and discussed the financial issues in france. Reforms were proposed but unaccepted by the estates generals. They then split and form the national assembly along with the third estate. The king tried but failed to prevent this from happening -
Tennis Court Oath
in order to defy the king, the third estate unites and forms the national assembly. this is to stop any reforms that would leave the third class to be out voted by the other classes. they take an oath to never split up. the other estates soon joined. -
Storming of the Bastille
revolutionaries rallied and stormed the bastille. this signals the start of the french revolution. They came with gunpowder and succeeded in dismantling the Bastille. they seized the Bastilles artillery and freed prisoners. -
Declaration of Rights of Man & Citizen
it is a declaration that states the rights of a french citizen. Ithas 17 articles. it was used as a preamble in future declarations. It played towards many ideas in the french revolution. -
October Days (Women’s March on Versailles)
A crowd of women protested at the market. They were rioting over the absurd price of bread. Thousands gathered. this caused for the king to have his power be split among different people. -
Civil Constitution of the Clergy
it was a law that gave more equal rights between men and women. this was result of the protests by women. It allowed women to have more freedom. This was supported by revolutionary priests. -
