  • The Great Fear

    The Great Fear was a wave of senseless panic throughout France. Peasants were terrorized by nobles, often having their manors broken into and contracts to land stolen. The women rioted over bread prices and wanted the National Assembly to take action. Next, the peasanats broke into the palace and killed several guards forcing the king and queen to return to Paris.

    Maximilien Raobespierre becomes leader of France and wants to elmininate the past. He creates the Committee of Public Safety, changes the calender to a 12 month year, removes Sundays, executes over 1,000 enemies by guillotine, including King Louis XVI and Queen Marie Antoinette.
  • Robespierre is Executed

    Robespierre is executed by the National Convention as the public opinion shifts away from the reign of terror.
  • Napoleon Beomes Emperor

    While still at war with Britain, Austria, and Russia, Napoleon delcares himself dictator of France and ends war through peace agreements.

    Napoleon as Ruler

    Napoleon conquered most of Europe, creates plebiscite, a national banking system, lycees, signed the concordat, and created the Napolenic Code.
  • Battle of Trafalgar

    Fought by Straight of Gibraltar off of the coast of Spain, this was Napoleon's first major battle loss. The British commander split the French fleet in half and captured many ships. Napoleon had to go back to the drawing board to create a new plan for invading Britain.
  • British Blockade

    Napoloen creatd a blockade, forcibly closing the ports, to prevent trade and communication with Britain and Europe. This idea was part of the Continental System to make Europe more self-sufficient.
  • Invasion of Russia

    Naploens invades Russia and losses 400,000 men. Russia creates the scorched-earth policy as a result of the invasion, burning field and animals to leave nothing for the enemy.
  • Batle of Waterloo

    Napoleon suffers a great loss at Battle of Waterloo and it became his last hurrah.
