    King Louis XVI calls the Estates-General
    King Louis XVI tottered on the verge of banckruptcy at the end of 1788 so he decided to call the Estates General, which is a legislative body made up of the three "class". They met in courts and it always had the same vote the king voted with the church while all the others voted a different answer so the answer was always in favor of the king and church.

    On July 14, 1789 the city of Paris started a war by demanding gunpowder and and weapons from the commander of the Bastille at the capital. The Parisians were so angry because they had felt they were being cheated and starved. So they broke through the defenses at the capital and killed the commander.

    The Parisians were so fed up with the king and church that they rioted to the Bastille. They were tired of being starved and taxed so they went and demanded guns and gunpowder. When the commander at the Bastille told them no and opened fire on them they stormed in and killed him and five others.

    Sans-culottes became popular among the people who are revolting against the king. In April 1792 war bagan against the king they broke through the gates of the castle and killed all the gaurds they could get their hands on. The war didn't end until 1815.
